Notes:

UDDI specifies the retrievable data as modeled in XML according to a particular UDDI schema. An instance of UDDI data can therefore be viewed through an XML DOM (Document Object Model), with the data of interest existing as the values of DOM element and attributes.

For purposes of search, the element value is considered to be the string value of the element node (substructure ignored or not allowed). Element values may be modified by a "lang" attribute.

In the Crosswalk table below, the notation for UDDI Elements and Attributes uses a slash ("/") to indicate descent to a child element node and the at-sign ("@") to indicate an element attribute.

The Crosswalk table below also includes an informal "GILS Attribute Name" in English for convenience of the reader. The Use Attribute number as given in the registered GILS or Bib-1 Attribute Set is the definitive source for the semantics of the search access point.

Precision is not symetrical between UDDI and GILS. For example, UDDI conflates several components of Address into an undifferentiated string. Therefore, a GILS search for "Baltimore" using the "Contact City" access point could get a false hit on a UDDI "businessEntity/contacts/contact/address" element value that includes the string "Baltimore Street".
